Zen Hot Yoga & Spa, Sherwood, Queensland
ZEN HOT YOGA was founded by Alexandra and Barbara, but the inspiration came from Barbara’s health issues. All her life Barbara had been struggling with her weight, and chemical sensitivity. In 1999 Barbara became so sick that she was barely able to walk before she was diagnosed with celiac in 2000. Unable to do her exercise routine, she tried yoga with little success.
One day, while being in the sauna she tried yoga there. As Barbara held her yoga poses in the heat, she found the heat decreased pain and increased her flexibility. But the intense heat often made her dizzy.
On a mission to rectify her health, Barbara read much about medical research and found out that toxins from food or the environment contribute highly to auto immune diseases, lower immunity and energy levels, premature ageing, infertility, depression, insomnia, slower metabolism, and many other conditions.

YOGA (Power Yoga)
Our yoga style is power yoga whereby traditional yoga poses from Hatha Yoga such as sun salutation, warrior 1, 2 and 3 are some of the examples of poses used regularly.
These poses are beginners’ friendly but yet are strong physically, great for muscle toning and developing a new level of fitness. Weight loss can be achieved for people who are carrying excess weight. The studio is warm, a perfect environment for improving flexibility and detoxing.
If you are an advance student however, you will find this studio to be suitable for you since our teachers will also guide you to the more advance poses if they see fit.
PILATES
Power Pilates is great for developing strong core strength. It is also fantastic for strengthening back muscles. If you are after toning, this class is suitable.
How yoga help your other exercises including gym
Increases Flexibility and Range of Motion
Regular yoga practice makes the spine more flexible and muscles more supple—something all athletes need. What’s more, it increases flexibility, strengthens and lengthens the whole body, increases range of motion, and releases the joints.
Improves Your athletic Ability
Many yoga poses build core strength. The poses in conjunction with movements are an excellent type of resistance training that benefits every athlete.
Improves Your Ability to Focus
Yoga improves focus and mental clarity.
“You won’t get as much from sports if your mind isn’t clear,” says Davidge.
Corrects Imbalances in the Body Caused by Training
Training of any kind is repetitive by nature. This can create imbalances; some muscle groups are strengthened, but others are ignored. Yoga can fix these imbalances.”
Relieve Chronic Aches and Pains That Often Accompany Regular Training
As a result, you have less pain and more agility and mobility,
which allows you to react more efficiently.
Stay in the Game
Whether you run, cycle, or kick box “regular yoga practice may allow you to do what you love for the rest of your life.”
