He’s also had great success in treating various mental and emotional problems such as: stress-induced anxiety, relationship problems, depression, sleep disorders, phobias, lack of motivation and emotional/mental fatigue.
HOW WILL I BENEFIT?
There are many valid reasons to receive Wholistic Bodywork. Here’s just a few:
Pain relief by relaxing your body & mind and reducing muscle spasms
Faster recovery from your injuries: Bodywork techniques such as Remedial Massage teamed with Aromatherapy improve circulation & detoxification and help to quell inflammation. This shortens the time it takes you to heal
Enhance your immunity to diseases: Bodywork techniques such as Massage and Reflexology have been shown to increase the number of circulating immune cells
Enjoy better quality sleep: the relaxing effect of many bodywork and energy healing techniques can calm your body and mind so that you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer
Let go of emotional stresses resulting in pain and disfunction: Theta Healing can be very successful in uncovering underlying negative beliefs and feelings that are the source of pain and discomfort and change them so that the physical symptoms go away
Reduce visible scarring & internal adhesions: sometimes when you get a deep cut or have an operation scar, during the healing process excess scar tissue builds up around the injury site and can attach to underlying muscles and ligaments. This can cause pain and pulling sensations during movement. Scar mobilisation techniques help to break up the excess scar tissue which your body then excretes. Over time these techniques can also reduce your visible surface scars
Re-balance & re-energise your mind & body and feel calmer and more relaxed: Chakra Balancing and Reiki are excellent tools when it comes to restoring your feeling of wholeness and wellbeing
Bodywork techniques and Yoga can help you to improve your sensory awareness by highlighting where you hold tension. Gregory also uses this kind of information when tailoring your corrective exercise programs
Prevent problems before they occur: receiving Wholistic Bodywork on a a regular basis addresses minor imbalances before they become a major problem. Sessions at 6 week intervals are recommended for best effect
Help reduce swelling & pain caused by lymphodema: Lymphatic DrainageMassage is one of the best ways to help your body clear out excess fluid. It’s also a very relaxing and soothing experience
WHAT ARE THE TREATMENTS LIKE?
Treatments are very thorough & last from 60 – 90 minutes. Your first therapeutic consultation also involves an assessment of up to 30 minutes. This enables development of a strategy to suit your individual needs.
Treatments can involve any combination of the following styles:
Swedish, therapeutic & remedial Massage. These scientific methods of manipulating soft tissue induce relaxation, aid detoxification, increase your tissue elasticity & tone whilst reducing pain
Sports Massage is suited to athletes & ‘weekend’ sports people alike. It can either prepare you for your chosen activity by reducing the risk of over-strain injury or speed your recovery after an event
Shiatsu is where Yoga meets Massage. It involves stretching and manipulating muscles and joints, special breathing techniques & acupressure; these rebalance energy flow through your meridian system (a series of energy pathways closely connected with all your vital organs & body systems). Many have reported feeling more energised and alert after their Shiatsu sessions. 3 consecutive sessions are recommended for best effect
Foot reflexology starts with soaking your feet in a warm bath with epsoms salts and essential oils. You then relax on the treatment table where your feet are given a comprehensive Massage. Specific areas on your feet directly link to your internal organs via the nervous system. This therapy will help you feel well and relaxed and can alleviate long standing physical problems
Aromatherapy relaxes & detoxifies your mind & body. Plants have been used for their therapeutic properties for centuries. Their pleasant essential oils are effective at treating a wide range of health problems. Application is usually by Massageboil blend or sometimes a vapouriser is used to diffuse your special blend of plant-based essential oils in the air for you to inhale during the session
Stretching gently relaxes tight muscles & mobilises your stiff joints. Flexibility increases. Pinched nerves are freed. Endorphins (natural pain killers) are released into the blood stream. Circulation is improved & toxins are cleared
Sound therapy involves both listening to music that relaxes & calms your mind & vocal toning which is an effective energy balancing technique. Tibetan bells are also sometimes used to enhance your healing experience
Reiki & Polarity are comforting, hands-on techniques that assist your natural healing processes by subtly re-balancing your energy systems.
They are forms of spiritual healing. From an infinite source the therapist will channel a potent healing energy through their hands to you for ‘your best & highest good’ ie: your being instinctively knows how to best utilise the Reiki energy that it receives during the session. During the treatment you would rest, fully clothed on a cushioned table. Most people report feeling deeply relaxed and nourished after the sessions. Reiki also brings mental clarity and emotional equilibrium
Ear candling is an ancient technique 1st used by the Hopi Indians of Nth America. A bee’s wax taper is gently inserted into the ear canal. The taper is lit and therapeutic heat stimulates local circulation & acupressure points in the ear. The whole process is painless & relaxing & can clear excess ear wax, relieve sinus irritations, improve hearing, smell, taste, reliev catarrh, regulate ear pressure, improve mental clarity & reduce ringing, migraines, vertigo & local itching
Aura & Chakra balancing can calm and restore emotional equilibrium. Gregory suspends a pendulum above specific areas of your body called chakras or energy centres. The swing of the pendulum indicates the progress of the energy balance. In a similar way to Reiki, universal healing energy is transferred through the pendulum to you. No touch is involved. This technique cleanses, re-charges, re-balances & protects the energy field around your physical body. Combining this process with other techniques can offer more lasting benefits
Lymphatic Drainage involves massaging the lymph nodes and very light movements across the skin which help to drain excess lymph fluid from the extremities. This is a very effective technique for reducing swelling causesd by lymphodema or surgical removal of the lymph nodes
Yoga is an ancient system of physical and mental exercises. Yoga gives you access to your ‘personal medicine cabinet’ by stimulating the various glands and organs in your body. In turn, these release natural ‘feel good’ neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) and hormones into the bloodstream. The practice of Yoga strengthens and relaxes your mind and body and makes you more resilient to life’s ups and downs. In this way, Yoga helps with addictions because it helps you to cope without the need for synthetic drugs. Over the long term, Yoga can also help you to find your true direction in life, and give you access to deep energy reserves which can inspire and motivate you along your chosen path.
Guided relaxation and meditation is a way of relieving the stresses of everyday life and opening you up to more peace and tranquility. During the process your body is able to more effectively let go of tension and cleanse away toxins and harmful chemicals. Your experience would involve lying face up, clothed and covered on a Massage table, bathed in soft lighting and soothing music. Here you would receive gentle instruction to guide you into a peaceful experience of yourself.

Myra 64, Holt ACT
“I have been receiving great benefit to my health from Gregory’s Massagesince 1998. It’s a fundamental part of my health management, given my compromised immune vulnerability. I used to have problems with itchy dry skin, inflammation, joint aches and gym-related injuries. I always feel so energized after receiving Gregory’s Massageand can recommend his professionalism and expertise to any person who is seeking a natural remedy to many of these health problems, and a restoration of vitality and energy.”
Phillip 54, South Woden ACT
“After years of tension headaches several times a week and other back pain I heard about Gregory Barnes. I had not had Massagebefore, but thought I would give it a go.
His immediate caring response was reassuring enough for me accept a Massageonce a month. Over time the headaches dwindled, back pain reduced to a point that I was able take up Pilates classes. My general health has improved enormously and I put that down to the regular Massages.
I became so enthusiastic about Massagesthat I attended 2 Massage courses Gregory ran through TAFE. I found him to be a patient, calm, knowledgeable instructor. My family have benefited from this instruction. I’m able to highly recommend Gregory as a Massage therapist and instructor.”
