Types of classes I teach
Gentle Beginners Yoga
This is a gentle, slow paced class designed to meet the needs of people who have absolutely no experience of yoga. If you have been wanting to start yoga but feeling that your physical challenges are too significant for a general class this is the class for you. You’ll be given the specific guidance you need to prepare you for entry to mixed level classes. This class is suitable for people over 50 years as well as those younger. It will also suit people with physical impairments and special needs who benefit from extra assistance.
Beginners to regulars Yoga
In a small group you can receive all the attention you need to ‘find your feet’ as a beginner and/or personalise your own yoga routine a bit more for those with some experience. Options will be given to help you progress at the right level for you. Prepare to relax and have fun in a peaceful atmosphere. Wear comfortable, modest clothing that is easy to move in.
Prenatal Yoga
Prenatal Yoga helps to safely build essential physical strength and stamina as well as giving the body a great overall stretch which assists with a more comfortable pregnancy. Relaxation and breathing techniques support emotional balance and provide invaluable preparation for birthing.
Each week we follow a simple routine that you can also practice at home if you wish. The small group will allow us to address specific issues and help you to tailor your practice to your own needs.
Private Lessons just for you
Personalised guidance and support
A private lesson offers close supervision of a highly skilled, attentive and experienced teacher.
You will be guided through a sequence of exercises and relaxation techniques, specifically designed to address your needs.
I assess your needs both long term and in each session and tailor everything to you. Depending on what is happening for you, we may work to restore your energy and build strength, or to wake up your energy & help you feel motivated. The practice will develop and change with you to bring a rewarding sense of balance and progress over time.

TESTIMONIALS – Private Classes
“Eighteen months ago I decided to make significant life-style changes including regular exercise to address not only fitness and well-being but also a stressful work situation and poor work/life balance. At fifty-seven years of age, my daughter recommended yoga but I didn’t feel confident to join a class. Fortunately for me, I found Marlo on the web and have never looked back. Not only have I continued my yoga practice but I also have more control over my life, exercise regularly and feel physically and mentally healthier.
Marlo’s tailored individual lessons have addressed my specific needs including strengthening a recently broken arm and a vulnerable sciatic nerve. By building strength and stamina, I feel much healthier and stronger. I eat more healthily, walk regularly as well, and practice meditation for relaxation. Marlo’s encouragement and sensitivity to my needs have taught me to be more confident and to persist with more challenging poses. I have also attended larger classes with Marlo – her teaching ensures everyone feels confident in their practice.
I highly recommend Marlo to anyone wanting to begin yoga, particularly if they have physical injuries or health problems. She is a delight to work with and is always highly professional. Most of all, she is a great communicator with a wicked sense of humour. I look forward to my classes – they are the highlight of my week.”

“‘Occasionally we are blessed with the grace of receiving from someone who has truly mastered their craft’
I have known Marlo for the past two years as a personal yoga teacher. During this time I was able to experience many facets of Marlo’s unique style.
She was able to intuitively customise my session to suit my greatest need at the time.
I have experienced good progress both mentally and physically and combined with a deeper understanding that I gained through Marlo’s careful explanation and tuition during our sessions.
As a business owner and employer of over 200 people I get to meet many people from all walks of life. I can honestly say that Marlo is an extraordinary person with great things to offer and would greatly benefit anyone she worked with.”

TESTIMONIALS – Prenatal yoga
“I have joined Marlo for prenatal classes in both my pregnancies, from 3mths to full term. Her classes were the highlight of my week and not only helped me to relax and have time to myself, they also helped me better connect to my pregnancy experience and prepare for the births. I have also joined her for general yoga classes, which were rewarding, relaxing, challenging and FUN!
Marlo’s warmth and generosity creates a positive, supportive and enriching environment for her students. She is able to help her students connect to and better understand yoga for themselves and ensures that each of her students gets what they personally need from their practice.

“I would like to say a big Thank You to you both (Marlo and Daya) for your support through the prenatal classes I attended as they really enhanced my ability to truly enjoy every part of the pregnancy and labour. Yoga has helped me believe in myself as a mother, be positive and relaxed, creating a great ambiance in our home and daily life.
So, just to again say THANKS so much for a great experience in the classes and I have been recommending them to anyone who asks how I’ve coped so well!
Cheers and take care,”

TESTIMONIALS – General
“I have found Marlo to be a devoted, knowledgeable, skillful and patient teacher. I came to yoga late in life, but still want to learn as much as I can and practice it as well as I am able. For me, Marlo is the perfect teacher – she challenges me and encourages me to get the best from my body without stress. She has helped me to understand and begin well with the breathing practice, and her relaxation technique is wonderful- it never fails to take me to a more peaceful state. Marlo is obviously very learned and experienced in yoga, and she also has a lovely warm, welcoming manner and – that essential ingredient – a sense of humour, which allows participants to see life’s funny side and not take things too seriously. Whether you’re thinking of trying yoga for the first time, or continuing and deepening your practice, I can’t recommend her classes highly enough.”
Ellen Downing
“I’ve had at least 40 different yoga teachers in the thirty or more years, on and off, I have been practicing Yoga.
Marlo Slavin is, without doubt, one of the finest teachers I have ever had.
Her attention detail, her capacity to inspire, her gentle thoughtful manner, all contribute to her wonderful abilities as a Yoga teacher.
I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone contemplating the practice of Yoga.”
John Leonard, Sydney 1 June 2010
” I have no hesitation in saying that Marlo is one of the best teachers I have experienced. Her expertise, when demonstrating yoga postures, is faultless and this is coupled with a remarkable ability to verbally communicate how to attempt them.
Marlo has the uncanny knack of making everyone feel comfortable and at ease. She places emphasis on relaxation and breathing techniques and I found this particularly helpful.
Marlo has a quiet, unassuming personality with a gentle sense of humour and is very obviously passionate about yoga and its teaching.” – William Farley
