Innersmile Yoga & Health
The “inner smile” appears naturally on someone’s face when he/she is in a state of inner peace and contentment. Unfortunately, in these fast paced modern times many of us have forgotten how to get there. This is where we come in – let us help you to relax and unveil your inner smile!
Innersmile Yoga & Health – Yoga Classes
The word “yoga” is derived from the biblical word “yoke”, which has its roots in the sanskrit word “jugit”. Both mean “to join together” or “to unite”.
While practicing yoga you aim to master the different forces within you (like the male sun and the female moon energy in Hatha Yoga) so that you finally can unite your individual consciousness with the Infinite consciousness.
The Four Main Paths of Yoga
Yoga not only means the bodywork that we mainly have in mind. It is just one part of the four main paths of yoga. These four paths are:
Bhakti Yoga – The discipline of love and devotion to god. Practiced through prayer and worship and by living in respect of god and his creation. (Not based on one particular religion.)
Iana Yoga – The discipline of knowledge and wisdom. Incorporates continuous learning and experience and transforming this into deep enlightment.
Karma Yoga – The discipline of self-transcending action. That means for example helping people without thinking of your own advantage or disadvantage. By doing this you are closer to god than to your ego.
Raja Yoga – The discipline of physical and mental control, achieved by regular bodywork, breathing exercise and meditation. There can be very physical forms as well as traditions that work mainly with meditation or psychophysical techniques.

YOGA BY THE SEA – Outdoor Classes!
Practise yoga as it used to be – early in the morning and outdoors – and enjoy a dynamic Hatha session on Altona Beach (opposite Mount St.). Feel the breeze, listen to the sounds of the sea, see the sun rise and take a deep breath of fresh air. There is no better way to start the day!
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Please bring a big towel or an old yoga/gymnastics mat as we can’t use the studio mats on the beach.
HATHA YOGA
Hatha yoga is the “mother” of a number of popular styles including Ashtanga Vinyasa, Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar and Bikram Yoga.
This class is perfect for newcomers or people who prefer a relaxed and gentle yoga session and makes a good foundation for those who wish to try out more demanding styles.
Hatha yoga offers a wide range of both energizing and relaxing postures. Together with breathing exercises and relaxation techniques your body will be stretched and strengthened gently and your mind can calm down. After a bit of regular practise you will feel more balanced, not only physically but also mentally.
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
KUNDALINI INSPIRED HATHA YOGA
Still based on Hatha Yoga the sessions will be enhanced by elements or short sequences of Kundalini yoga to increase the positive effects on body and mind. While Hatha mainly uses steady poses for toning the body Kundalini offers a number of dynamic – and sometimes challenging! – exercises, aiming to awaken your powerful inner forces.
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
ASHTANGA VINYASA YOGA (level 1)
A good choice for all who love a more workout-like class.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic version of Hatha Yoga. Each session consists of a series of standing, sitting and reclined postures, linked by a fluent sequence (vinyasa). The postures are practised without longer rests in between, but always in combination with breath and focus. Due to the continuous movement and the concentration on body and breath Ashtanga Yoga is often described as “meditaion in motion”.
Don´t worry about complexity! You will be guided through each posture step by step with accurate instructions and adjustments so that evrybody can master the “first series”. Come and feel the flow!
Suitable for all people of normal health and fitness.
