Essential Yoga
The style of Yoga is traditional hatha yoga with influences from Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar Yoga, exercise physiology, health psychology and pilates. There is an emphasis on correct technique and alignment, core stability, challenging yourself , and working safely within each pose. Students are encouraged to work to their own individual edge for maximum benefit. Variations of poses are given with simpler and harder versions as well as variations for injuries..
The slow pace classes are perfect for over 50’s, beginners and those who enjoy slower pace yoga. In a way the slow pace is more challenging for the mind and also leaves more space to focus on the quality of the breath.
The medium pace classes are suitable for all levels.
The strong pace class is suitable for experienced students.
The meditation class includes restorative yoga poses, gentle beathing (pranayama) practices and simple meditation and relaxation techniques. It is not a physical class but the benefits will be felt profoundly throughout the whole body. This class is an hour long and must be experienced to feel the benefits.($10 for this class).
About Jackie
Jackie started Iyengar yoga classes in 1990 and was soon attending 5 classes a week. She was studying Human Movement, Human Biology and Psychology at UWA. In 1992 Jackie completed her Bachelor of Psychology and instead of going on to become a Psychologist she went to the Satyananda Yoga Ashram in NSW to complete a one month residential teacher training. In 1995 Jackie started classes in her lounge room in Merewether NSW and within a month was in the local school hall. In 1999 she moved back to WA and started classes inĀ Busselton and Dunsborough.
Her classes are very popular. The style of yoga is traditional hatha with modern influences from exercise physiology and pilates.Her students describe the class as “not too fast, not too slow.” Jackie is a highly experienced yoga teacher and has taught over 6000 classes in the past 18 years. This experience shows when you attend one of her classes and see that everyone enjoys it from the stiff 60 year old with a knee problem to the 22 year old athlete.
